REMOVABLE DOOR KNOB

The door knob has to come off quickly in an actor's hand. The production crew in Chemainus had done this recently in a show so no experimenting was needed.

The knob and its stem were drilled through so there were matching holes. A duplex nail with its tip rounded dropped through and worked as a lock to keep the knob on the door until the actor removed the nail.

We hid spare parts on the set in case something went missing mid-performance.

Simple and quick - after a bit of rehearsal.

  1. Thank you for posting this. I work with a community theater in Ohio that is staging Noises Off in the near future. This was one of the technical issues we were still trying to work out. Again, thank you.
